Social Gathering Limits
 
What is the social gathering limit for indoor settings?
An un-structured social gathering in an indoor setting cannot exceed 25 people. If the social gathering is held in a structured setting, such as a restaurant, hotel or with a catering company, the social gathering limit is increased to 50 people. The facility where the event is being hosted is required to follow the rules governing restaurant dining.
 
What is the social gathering limit for outdoor settings?
An un-structured social gathering in an indoor setting cannot exceed 50 people. If the social gathering is held in a structured setting, such as a restaurant, hotel or with a catering company, the social gathering limit is increased to 100 people. The facility where the event is being hosted is required to follow the rules governing restaurant dining.
 
What are the restrictions on Indoor and Outdoor Venues of Assembly?
Concert halls, convention centers performance venues and theaters may operate at up to 66% capacity or 1 person per 100 square feet, to a cap of 125 people.

Outdoor venues of assembly that host events such as fairs, festivals, concerts and performances may operate at up to 66% of capacity or 1 person per 100 square feet, to a cap of 250 people.

Social distancing must be maintained. Guests must wear masks and the venue must implement strict sanitation procedures and screening protocols.
 
Restaurant Dining
 
Have the restrictions on bar seating changed?
We are waiting on additional guidance for bar seating. RIHA has been working closely with Commerce RI to loosen the restrictions. More information coming soon.
 
What is the seating capacity limits for on-premise dining?

Indoor Dining:

Indoor dining is limited to 66% of the restaurant's normal seated capacity.

Tables must be distanced 8 feet apart (table edge to table edge) so that guests have six feet between them.

Parties of up to eight people may be seated at an individual table and customers are encouraged to minimize the number of non-household members with whom they dine.
 
Outdoor Dining:

Outdoor dining capacity does not have specific limitations, however, the restaurant cannot exceed its normal operating capacity.

Tables must be distanced 8 feet apart (table edge to table edge) so that guests have six feet between them.

Parties of up to eight people may be seated at an individual table and customers are encouraged to minimize the number of non-household members with whom they dine.
